American Cyber Sufis: Islamic Authority, Identity and Ritual Online

Robert Rozehnal has recently received a two year "New Directions" fellowship from Lehigh's College of Arts and Sciences (2013-2015). Also, he has spent sabbatical leave in 2013-2014 conducting research on a new book, Cyber Sufis: Virtual Expressions of the American Muslim Experience (under contract with Oneworld Publications, Oxford, England). In August 2014, he will present a paper, "American Cyber Sufis: Islamic Authority, Identity and Ritual Online," at the Conference of the International Society for Media, Religion, and Culture at the University of Kent, Canterbury, UK. He was elected to the National Steering Committee for the American Academy of Religion's "Islamic Mysticism Group" after serving five years as a founding memeber of the "Contemporary Islam Group."
